Boys & Beast at the Lake

I packed up the boys & Jet & headed to Lake Ray Roberts north of Denton. We missed a homeschool outing to this lake in May due to illness & so we were glad to experience the beach today! It is the Isle du Bois state park off of Hwy. 455 & the grounds are excellently maintained. Big plus: the restrooms are very clean & each stall had at least 6 rolls of toilet paper - now that's saying something for a state park! :) The beach was full of nice sand & it was a huge swimming area. There are lots of covered table areas each with a grill & several fresh water spouts to clean off the sand at the end of the fun. Jet cooled off in the water & enjoyed chasing grasshoppers. The boys really enjoyed the coolness & each other as they splashed & explored. They tried in vain to catch teeny-tiny minnows with whatever tool they could find - it was amazing how long they tried to do that - I guess small nets are on the shopping list! The weekends can be very crowded so a weekday trip is recommended if you can! Remember state parks charge $5 for each person 13 and over -under 13 are free.
